[6/23/2021 – Niles, IL] Notre Dame College Prep (NDCP) in Niles, Illinois is excited to announce the hiring of Matt Leitzke to the position of head coach of the Notre Dame College Prep hockey program.

Mike Miscevich, president of the ND Hockey Board, "looks forward to seeing Coach Leitzke take the ND hockey program to the next level and seeing a new era of ND Hockey take shape over the next few years.”

The upcoming 2021-22 season will be Coach Leitzke's seventh season of coaching varsity high school hockey in Illinois and his second with Notre Dame.

"It’s great to have Matt Leitzke on board with ND Hockey. His expertise, energy, and familiarity with the program, players and parents will be a tremendous asset to get things moving and accelerate the progress of ND Hockey," said Michael Hennessey, longtime Athletic Director of NDCP.

Coach Leitzke previously served as Assistant Coach with Loyola Gold (2017-2019), where he won more than 130 games, the IL State Championship (2017-18) and Scholastic Hockey League Cup both seasons with the club. Coach Leitzke has also served in the position of Assistant Coach for the Barrington and York High School programs.

"As someone passionate about high school hockey in Illinois, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to once again establish Notre Dame College Prep as a premier hockey program within the Chicago Catholic Hockey League and also in the state and region. It was an honor to be brought into the NDCP community and hockey program as part of Coach Blake Sorensen's varsity staff last season and I look forward to building upon what we began working on last season."

Coach Leitzke also has experience coaching youth hockey at all levels with the Iowa City Blizzard, Colorado Springs Jr Tigers, Winnetka Warriors, and Chicago Jets programs. Leitzke also worked within the hockey operations of USA Hockey and the United States Hockey League  and the Executive Committee of the United States Hockey League

Leitzke grew up in Mount Prospect playing for the Northern Express club team and PREP. He’s a 2008 graduate of Prospect High School and a 2012 graduate of University of Iowa, where he developed a passion for data analytics. He currently works as a Consumer Insights Analyst within tech marketing.
