October 2025 Off The Board

October 7th, 2025

The NDCP Hockey Board held a meeting on Tuesday, September 23rd.  The following highlights are a rundown of items that were discussed.

First Month Feedback from the Board

We are just over one month into this new season and the Board has received feedback on a variety of issues.  Below are board specific items we can formally address.  Feedback the board receives specifically related to hockey, including practice setups, game strategies, coaching and staffing are  shared directly with Ryan Davlantes, our club Hockey Director.  As hockey director, Ryan and the coaching staff’s job is to communicate vision and goals with the players on any changes to club hockey strategies - we help facilitate and support him, and the staff, with that. Please continue to share program feedback to both the board (ndcphockey@gmail.com) and/or Ryan Davlantes at ndcphockey.hd@gmail.com.

Ice Usage

The board did receive feedback on the late night usage of ice, versus other options that may or may not be available. Securing adequate and feasible home ice for practice and games has been a top priority going into this season and next.  For the 2025/2026 season, we secured the most beneficial ice slots available to us in an effort to eliminate the number of rinks used and to move practices closer to NDCP.  We will keep working that goal, while also looking to secure better ice times in the future.

Communications, Chats and Social Media Policy

There are many avenues for the club to communicate to players, parents and fans. In all cases, the hockey club is an extension of the school and must abide by all school policies.  Here are some changes put forth by the school for the club.

Chats

  • Any group chats containing players and parents has been closed

  • Parent chats per team still exist, as do player only/coach chats

  • ndcphockey@gmail.com is monitored by the board and can be used for any private feedback for the board. Hockey related communications can be directed to Ryan Davlantes at ndcphockey.hd@gmail.com

Social Media

Players, fans and friends are encouraged to share posts from any of these accounts.

Board Position Available

Long-time Rules and Ethics Chair/board member John Zullo will be stepping down into a consultative role, opening up an opportunity for a new volunteer.  This is an elected position and one where parents and direct relatives of current players are not eligible. The ideal candidate has a hockey administrative history, investigative background and/or has had a player in the NDCPHC program in the past.  Please forward this posting to any interested person.

Board Meeting Schedule and Notes

The executive board has closed meetings on average once a month through the season.  The intention is to hold 3-4 planned public meetings each season, including the Kickoff Townhall, Late Season and Spring Season.  The next public board meeting will be held on Monday, October 20th at 6:30pm at NDCP. All are welcome to attend.  Please consider sending any topics in advance to ndcphockey@gmail.com.  Closed board meetings are held once a month and this newsletter serves as the recap of any news discussed.  All newsletters are archived at https://www.ndcphockey.org/newsletter

General Guidelines for Club

The club is working in conjunction with the school and AHAI to create and publish its General Guidelines of Operation.  These guidelines are not only a requirement from AHAI, but also a good opportunity for the club to state how we work, our goals, processes and set up stability for the future.  This is a work in progress but will be addressed this season.
